R18+ Games Australia

Becoming personally frustrated by the lack of progress and constant misinformation being publicised about the R18+ rating for games in Australia debate, I elected to start my own site on the issue. The aim of the site was to address concerns about the rating and provide helpful, non-biased information about why this change was necessary and positive for the community.

The site design I settled on was a peaceful blue tone, set off by the striking red in the background of the “R18+” rating symbol in the banner. Its aim was to complement the objective, unbiased information the site presented, as well as make it easy to navigate by highlighting key areas of interest and directly providing stand-out links to important calls to action, such as “How can I help?” and “Why is this important?”

At the time of writing the site is still active, pending further discussion by the Standing Council of Attorneys-General who are responsible for making the decision. I am pleased to note that the issue appears to be gaining momentum and I am hopeful that we will see this much-needed change sometime in 2011.
