Vital Metals Rebranding and Site Redesign

Perth-based mining company Vital Metals contacted me and asked me to assist them in redesigning their corporate image. Following an internal shakeup the company was in need of a new brand and I was only too happy to help out.

Vital Metals already had a good idea of where they wanted to begin, wishing to use blue and gold in their new logo. By working closely with their team members, I was able to generate a number of ideas based on concepts they had described to me.

In the end they narrowed it down to the above choice, which became Vital Metal’s new logo and can be seen on the walls of their offices in Cottesloe Central.

The company also wanted to redesign their old website (above) to bring it into line with their new image and add new functionality, both for the end-user (the investor) and for themselves. To this end I worked with them to develop a new WordPress-powered site that gave them the flexibility they needed. I offered them several hand-crafted designs and they chose the one you see below:

This design stands out from the staid, boxy, “corporate blue” image projected by the vast majority of mining company websites, giving the Vital Metals brand the vitality and energy that this small, quickly growing company deserves. By combining strong visual elements like red dirt, parchment and hand-written scrawl, the site retains an earthen quality that acknowledges the importance of the dirt, sweat and hard work that make up the core of the business.

As with all of my projects, the client was supplied with complete source code and development images for the logo and website, as well as colour charts and a customised Microsoft Word manual explaining how to use the website in depth.
